3. If Hollywood attempted to depict the Freedom Riders in movie form,
could it be done authentically with a close rendering of real events to
the point where it was more effective for audiences than the
documentary, or will the documentary always trump anything Hollywood
could do, given that it's the "true" story?
If your asking me if Hollywood would be capable to make a Freedom Riders movie, I absolutely think they would be able to do so. I think this because there are a numerous of emotional and realistic movies that Hollywood has depicted and they have done a phenomenal job in filming and making the scenes come alive and look very realistic and effective that the audience feels emotional about it. The document was very effective as I watched it, displaying real pictures and events that happened. For example, the bus scene was a very powerful scene that was mind-blowing to me. Just seeing it made me question, why would they do such a thing to people who have never done anything to them, or why would people sit around and let this happen and not react. The same questions I had during the document Freedom Riders, I'm positive Hollywood could pull of the same reaction if they were to make a movie out of this document. I think if Hollywood were to make a movie people could relate to it more and it would become more famous and known. I doubt a lot of people know about the Freedom Riders, where as if it became a movie more people would know about it and be more impacted. Whoever, were to make this movie would probably have to put aside any strong emotions they have while filming this movie because the artistic part would need to be viewed realistic and very descriptive. I would love to see how Hollywood would put together this movie, I think overall they would do a good job and people would be moved by it.
